I’ve always loved opening the mailbox and finding an envelope I wasn’t expecting. There’s a little thrill in turning it over, wondering what’s inside, and taking a minute to sit down and open it. I wanted to share that feeling, so I’m starting my own Snail Mail Art Club! WOOHOO!
So, what is a snail mail art club?
It’s a subscription that brings art from an artist’s studio to your mailbox. Every club is a little different. You might find a print, a postcard, a sticker, or a letter about what the artist has been making. Part of the fun is seeing what they chose to tuck inside that month.
You can frame a print, slip it into your journal, or send it along to a friend. I love the idea that something I made at my studio table might end up on someone’s fridge, in a cute frame, or tucked into a book they’re reading.
Why I’m starting my own 🌿
Hi, I’m Kyla Jo! I’m an artist and mom of two from Muncie, Indiana. I fell in love with printmaking while studying studio art at Ball State, and my side-yard garden is one of my favorite places to look for ideas and inspiration. I can go out to check on a plant and end up crouched over a patch of moss, completely forgetting what I went outside to do.
Those are the moments I want to share through this club. If a snail or a tree frog shows up in one of your prints, there’s a good chance I’ve spent some time watching one, picking one up, and possibly friending it. In the letters, I get to tell you a little about what caught my eye, and what I’ve been making lately.
What’s coming to your mailbox?
Every month, I’ll send you a signed art print, a personal letter or card, and a sticker. of my art work. I’ll tuck a membership card into your first envelope, and I’ll send extra goodies to folks who stick around as a little thank-you. (The club is open to all ages!)
