Hello, my name is Kyla Jo and I am the creator behind the Muncie Mama’s Market.
About Kyla
I am a full time photographer, business owner, creator, gardener, and momma of 2 girls (15 months apart). I have had type 1 Diabetes for 24 years. I am from Muncie, Indiana and still live here! I have grown to love this community and try and support other local creatives as much as I can.
I have two daughters Lilly and Rory. They keep me pretty busy when I am not photographing/editing/creating/gardening/running my businesses. They hang out at the photo studio with me while I am cleaning up and setting up for sessions, and they are the cutest subjects for photo shoots. Lilly helps me in the garden and we love watching our goldfish in the pond I dug. You will see them at the front table at the market as well as delivering goodies to the vendors… and of course shopping! I have always wanted to be a mommy and they are more perfect than I could have imagined! (That does not mean we don’t have our rough days like every other parent/kid relationship.)
Okay, I have to share a little bit about my fur babies: I have a 12 year old Border Collie/Australian Shepherd mix (Kip), an 18 pound Maine Coon mix Cat (Mugsy), a 1.5 eared cat (Lil Dipper), and a crazy fluffy kitten (Roo), fish, a turtle, and snails in our pond.
The Reason
The Muncie Mama’s Market was born from my own journey as an artist, a small business owner, and a mother. As a creative, I know how vulnerable it feels to build something from nothing — to pour your heart into your work and hope someone sees it. As a mom to two little girls, I want them to grow up watching women create, lead, and build meaningful lives and businesses.
Our mission is to create a welcoming, beautifully curated space where mamas, makers, and small business owners feel seen, valued, and supported. We exist to celebrate creativity, strengthen our local community, and provide real opportunity for women and families who are building their dreams from the ground up.
Muncie Mama’s Market isn’t just about shopping — it’s about connection, encouragement, and showing the next generation (our own children) what’s possible when we support one another.
